In the world of computer graphics, artificial intelligence has already become a key element in creating stunning visual effects and masterful masterpieces.

What is Firefly and how does it work?

Adobe Firefly is a new family of creative generative AI models available to users as a standalone app, through Firefly-powered features in several flagship apps, and in Adobe Express. FireFly is not just a tool, but a modern artistic companion. It has the ability to refresh traditional techniques, opening up a new perspective on image creation.

The power of AI allows designers to experiment with shapes, textures, and colors beyond what was previously available. AI training algorithms allow the Firefly system to adapt to the style of a particular artist, providing them with unique tools for self-expression. Adobe is not standing still and is in the process of deeply integrating AI technologies into the workflows of all its applications.

In addition to generating images from text descriptions and adding effects to text, you can now recolor vector files and instantly vectorize a sketch into editable blocks.

About the “Text to Image” feature

To create realistic images, such as portraits of people or cats, fascinating abstractions, or fantastic illustrations using “Text to Image,” it is important to describe the image idea in detail for a more accurate result.

How does it work?

Using 3-5 simple and unambiguous descriptions to generate an image, the user can select a suitable image from several options in the results. To get a more accurate result, you can try rephrasing your request or click “Refresh” to regenerate. The “Style” menu will help you change the image proportions or select the type of content, styles, colors and tones, lighting, and composition.

Function capabilities:

  • Creating product layouts for websites
  • Creating advertising materials
  • Creating entertainment content
  • Creating illustrations for books, magazines, and other publications.

About the Text Effects feature

To create original letter silhouettes and highlight key information with a rich visual impact, designers can use the Text Effects feature. This feature simplifies working with text content, saves time, and helps professionals improve their designs.

How does it work?

To describe the desired text effect, it is best to use no more than 10 keywords, and for a more accurate result, the artist can use a query from the available examples. The Style menu offers options for changing the font, text color, and background color, while the Match Shape parameter allows the designer to determine how closely the reference will match the contours of the characters. One of the options for this feature is the free text effect, which allows for a more abstract result that goes beyond the boundaries of the characters.

Function capabilities:

  • Creation of advertising materials (posters, flyers, graphic materials for social networks)
  • Creation of interactive educational materials (textbooks, workbooks)
  • Creation of unique designs for websites and logos.
  • Creation of personalized messages, greeting cards, and other creative projects.

The Text to Image and Text Effects features are already integrated into Adobe Express, an online service for creating graphic content for social media and advertising materials. The tool takes text content for preparing poster, business card, and logo references to a whole new level.

About the Generative Recolor feature

Generative Recolor allows designers to adjust vector images using simple text queries. With queries and this feature, you can create multiple color combinations in a matter of seconds. Using this tool, designers can quickly evaluate different color palette options for product packaging, poster design, or illustrations. Generative recoloring is one of the capabilities of AI that helps optimize routine graphic processes and saves time by improving the creative process and helping to find optimal color combinations.

How does it work?

Using up to 10 simple descriptive words, you should describe the desired color palette in detail. First, you need to add an SVG file or select a template from the application’s gallery. The AI will generate a number of options based on your request and suggest rephrasing it to get a more accurate palette. With the “Harmony” option, you can select a base shade and apply a pre-selected color scheme, and by clicking on the “Style” menu, you can add other files, diversify your requests, and create multiple variations of the already generated result.

Function capabilities:

  • Giving images a vintage or retro look. Changing the color to sepia, black and white, or another retro-style color scheme.
  • Creating themed collections. Changing the color of different images to match a specific theme or mood.
  • Creating themed collections. Changing the colors of different images to match a specific theme or mood.
  • Creating promotional materials, such as social media posts or website banners, by changing colors to match the colors of the selected brand.

The Generative Recolor feature is already part of the Adobe Illustrator creative tool, allowing designers to integrate a variety of colors and shades into their projects. This feature provides the ability to refine and accurately match colors, giving illustrators more flexibility in the creative process.

The Firefly app is designed to be integrated into existing Adobe Creative Cloud, Document Cloud, Experience Cloud, and Adobe Express solutions.

Just imagine: creating your own vectors, brushes, and textures from text prompts, changing the weather in a video with a few words, turning simple 3D projects into photorealistic images, and quickly creating new styles and variations. All this in familiar and trusted applications.
